MISSION
The mission of Shenandoah University’s Symposium
on Aging is to provide ongoing education in the Northern Shenandoah Valley
area concerning issues associated with aging.
Its goals are to:
| |
develop
programming, such as classes, publications and conferences, that
addresses the needs of the aging population and their caregivers |
| |
provide
opportunities for those in the aging industry to learn about current
issues concerning aging |
| |
provide
opportunities for people of all backgrounds to participate in this
educational process, without regard to income level |
| |
promote
independence in the senior population and provide information that
enables them to age well. |
This year’s theme focuses on providing older adults, families
and communities with strategies for achieving vitality in their later
years. Shenandoah University realizes that myriad things contribute
to vitality, and we’ve designed a conference to address some of
the most important topics.
The
Symposium on Aging is a reflection of one facet of Shenandoah University’s
mission to promote the welfare of the whole person. By fostering a nurturing
environment in which people can learn, grow and flourish, the university
produces critical, reflective thinkers; lifelong learners; and ethical,
compassionate citizens who are committed to making responsible contributions
within their communities, the nation and the world.
