Office of Education Outreach

Teacher Licensure and Recertification courses for teachers

The Office of Education Outreach provides professional and licensure courses approved by the Virginia Department of Education (VDOE) for teacher licensure, special education and recertification. Many of these courses are available in Winchester, Leesburg, Fredericksburg, Hampton, and online.

Shenandoah University's Office of Education Outreach in the School of Education and Human Development offers professional courses which are accepted by the Virginia Department for Teacher Licensure. You will also see a variety of recertification courses. Many of these courses are available in several locations, including Fredericksburg, Winchester, and Leesburg. A variety of distance courses are also available each trimester.

The Office of Education Outreach is also able to offer individualized courses for districts that meet specific needs the district may have. We are able to offer a variety of courses for licensure or recertification in your school. Tuition rates vary based on a variety of factors which we are happy to discuss with you. Please review the available licensure courses which meet VDOE licensure requirements as well as courses that can be used for recertification.

Registration forms must be mailed or faxed to the business office with payment; do not send registration forms to our office, as this will delay the process.

School divisions may also contract with OEO to arrange sponsored sections; divisions can request specific courses, enroll students, and provide us with a list of enrolled students and our business office will bill districts directly.

Technical support, business office and registration support is, at best, limited on weekends and holidays for students.  Please refer to your course syllabus for instructor contact information and office hours.  Weekend/holiday emails to Education Outreach personnel will be addressed as a priority on Monday mornings or the first workday after a holiday, whichever comes first.
