While most women are aware of breast cancer, many forget to take the steps to have a plan to detect the disease in its early stages and encourage others to do the same. Sixth Annual Carnival for a Cause

Sixth Annual Carnival for a Cause, hosted by Phi Delta Chi Pharmaceutical Fraternity and benefiting St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, is from 5 to 8:30 p.m. in the Health Professions Building cafeteria. All proceeds go St. Jude. Tickets are sold the night of the event; tickets are $5, which includes dinner and 2 tickets for games. Additional tickets will be available for purchase. First-Ever Chili & Cornbread Cook-Off

First-Ever Chili & Cornbread Cook-Off, presented by the business fraternity Alpha Kappa Psi, is from 4:30 to 6 p.m. in the Brandt Student Center, Ferrari Room. Pay $2 at the door, sample all the chili and cornbread entries, and vote for the best. Drinks, candy and fun are also included! How good is your chili and/or cornbread? Individuals and groups (students, employees, student clubs, administrative offices, etc.) are invited to cook. It’s $3 to enter a pan of cornbread, $5 to enter a pot of chili or $7 to enter both – a devilishly good deal. Entry forms are due Wednesday, Oct. 22.
