Winchester’s First Interfaith Concert

Winchester’s First Interfaith Concert begins at 7 p.m. in Goodson Chapel / Recital Hall. Sept. 21 is International Peace Day, and a variety of musicians representing different faiths will present music from their traditions, representing the theme of peace and faith. One of the highlights of is an original composition by David Chavez, music director at Front Royal United Methodist Church, sung by his wife, Melissa Chavez, an opera singer. The composition is based on prayers from several faith traditions. The concert is sponsored by the Valley Interfaith Council. FREE

Dustbowl Revival

The U.S. Airmen of Note

The U.S. Airmen of Note performs at 8 p.m. in Armstrong Concert Hall. The Airmen of Note is the premier jazz ensemble of the United States Air Force. Stationed in Washington, D.C., it is one of six musical ensembles that comprise The U.S. Air Force Band. Created in 1950 to continue the tradition of Major Glenn Miller’s Army Air Corps dance band, the current band consists of 18 active duty Airmen musicians including one vocalist. FREE
