Carnatic Classical Music Concert

Carnatic Classical Music Concert begins at 7 p.m. in Goodson Chapel / Recital Hall. The ensemble – Sumanth Swaminathan, saxophone, Vijay Ganesh, mridangam, and teenage prodigy Kamalakiran Vinjamuri, violin – will also explain a variety of compositions that illustrate some of the fundamentals and stylistic conventions of southern Indian music. Earlier in the day, the artists will preview the program, with additional demonstrations and background, at 2 p.m. in Halpin-Harrison Hall, Stimpson Auditorium as a First-Year Seminar common event. Hudson Piano Trio, a New Music Series concert, begins at 8 p.m. in Armstrong Concert Hall, where audience members are invited to sit on stage, too.
