Sexual Assault Support Group

Sexual Assault Support Group meets from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. in Cooley Hall, Room 210 – the [Not Just] Women’s Center. All sexual assault survivors or family and friends of survivors are welcome. This is a six-week, open-talk group on Tuesday evenings through Nov. 11; a different topic each week relates to the healing journey of survivors and their loved ones. Breast Cancer Survivor Dinner

12th Annual Breast Cancer Survivor Dinner, hosted by Kappa Epsilon Professional Pharmacy Fraternity, begins at 5 p.m. in the Brandt Student Center, Ferrari Room. The dinner honors local breast cancer survivors and raises money for the Young Survival Coalition, an international, non-profit organization dedicated to awareness and advocating research of breast cancer affecting women under the age of 40. The evening includes a guest speaker, professionally catered dinner, silent auctions, raffles and door prizes. Tickets are $30 per adult and $20 per student. Fun to Be FIT!

Fun to Be FIT! begins at 10 a.m. at the Braddock Street United Methodist Church (115 Wolfe St., downtown Winchester). Fun to Be FIT! is open to members of the Winchester and Shenandoah communities – especially children and their parents. See how to incorporate simple things into daily life to help prevent and reduce the incidence of childhood obesity. Activities include Eat This, Not That, get up and get active games, fun with food creations, kids yoga, free toothbrushes and more. Dogs and cats from the Winchester SPCA will be there to play, too. Fun to Be Fit is a collaborative project by Shenandoah doctoral students in the Physician Assistant, Physical Therapy, Athletic Training and Pharmacy programs. Non-Partisan Forum of Candidates

Non-Partisan Forum of Candidates running for Virginia’s 10th District seat in the U.S. House of Representatives is from 10:30 a.m. to noon in the Handley Regional Library auditorium (100 W. Piccadilly St., Winchester). Forum candidates – John Foust (Democrat), Brad Eickholt (Independent), Dianne Blais’s representative (Green Party) and William Redpath (Libertarian) – will speak on national, state and local issues. Shenandoah’s Vice President for Academic Affairs Adrienne Bloss serves as forum moderator. Candidates will deliver prepared remarks. No questions from the audience or media will be accepted; however, everyone may speak with the candidates following the forum. Election Day is Tuesday, Nov. 4.
