Intramural Facial Hair Championship

Intramural Facial Hair Championship, Student Life’s No-Shave-November movement to raise awareness of men’s health issues, is a competition open to male students, faculty and staff members who can participate in either the “individual” category or “team” category (two or more men). Grow beards and/or mustaches for length, thickness and/or style. First, go to Brandt Student Center Room 122 between 10 a.m. and 5 p.m. before Oct. 31, and to have a photo taken of your clean-shaven face – faces if it’s a team entry. Then, return to BSC Room 122 between 10 a.m. and 5 p.m. Nov. 24, 25 or 26 for your “after” photo. Voting takes place over Thanksgiving Break; winners are determined by the number of “likes” an individual and a team receive. Sharing photos on other pages will disqualify the contestant(s). Red Flag Information Table

Red Flag Information Table is from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. each day in the Brandt Student Center.  Peer mentors from Shenandoah’s [Not Just] Women’s Center are doing their part to spread awareness about the Red Flag campaign and the red flags of dating violence. The Red Flag Campaign is a public awareness campaign designed to address dating violence and promote the prevention of dating violence on college campuses. First-Ever Chili & Cornbread Cook-Off

First-Ever Chili & Cornbread Cook-Off, presented by the business fraternity Alpha Kappa Psi, is from 4:30 to 6 p.m. in the Brandt Student Center, Ferrari Room. Pay $2 at the door, sample all the chili and cornbread entries, and vote for the best. Drinks, candy and fun are also included! How good is your chili and/or cornbread? Individuals and groups (students, employees, student clubs, administrative offices, etc.) are invited to cook. It’s $3 to enter a pan of cornbread, $5 to enter a pot of chili or $7 to enter both – a devilishly good deal. Entry forms are due Wednesday, Oct. 22. Sexual Assault Support Group meets from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. in Cooley Hall, Room 210 – the [Not Just] Women’s Center. All sexual assault survivors or family and friends of survivors are welcome. This is a six-week, open-talk group on Tuesday evenings through Nov. 11; a different topic each week relates to the healing journey of survivors and their loved ones. Employee Benefits Fair

Employee Benefits Fair, which showcases all the great benefits Shenandoah University offers its employees, is from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the Brandt Student Center, Ferrari Room. This is an opportunity for employees to ask questions about benefits, and get answers from representatives of the benefit providers. The Benefits Fair is also the beginning of the Open Enrollment (Oct. 28 to Nov.28.) Special informational sessions are scheduled throughout the day. Free flu shots will be available during the benefit fair. The Office of Human Resources is covering the cost for employees who receive the immunization during the event and show their SU ID card.
