Appalachian Trail Conservancy Biennial Conference, “Hiking Through History,” at Shenandoah University includes camping on the field behind the Brandt Student Center, workshops in Henkel Hall, evening presentations in Armstrong Concert Hall, registration and exhibits in Shingleton Gymnasium, receptions and musical entertainment in the BSC Ferrari Room. The Appalachian Trail Conservancy Biennial Conference is co-hosted by Potomac Appalachian Trail Club (PATC) and Mountain Club of Maryland (MCM). Bassoon & Oboe Camp, hosted by Shenandoah Conservatory and Bocal Majority Camps, is open to all middle school through high school oboe and bassoon players. Professors Ryan Romine and Stephen Key teach lessons, coach chamber music, lead masterclasses and help with reeds. Day 1. Mainly for new faculty, experienced faculty may want to join this CTL workshop as mentors or to revise their classes. This will be a practical workshop covering curriculum construction, “scaffolding” material, “flipped” classes, technology, and strategies to achieve deeper learning. Time for working on syllabi and course materials is scheduled. This is a two-day workshop scheduled for Monday, August 17 & 18. Attendance at both sessions is recommended but not mandatory.
