To open EXCEL, go to the "START" button and "click" it to open the program list. Go up to program and over to Excel and "click" the button "Microsoft Excel" to open "EXCEL". Please note a similar location of the buttons below.

When Excel opens your page will look like the page below. Note cell A1 is highlighted. Column A row 1. Also not the window above the column box "A" indicates the location of the highlighted cell. (A1)

Overview: Whereas graphs are extensively used in our everyday lives, many students are unaware of how to use "Excel." Include a discussion on data collection, parts of a graph, and how to put data into cells while using "Excel."
Purpose: Through this lesson students will place a given set of numbers into cells then put the data they collected into the spreadsheet. For additional information about the positive and negative points of using follow this link.
Objective: Students will be able to:
1. Define the following terms:
(a.) rows
(b.) columns
(c.) cells
2. Input information in cells:
3. Move the cursor to a chosen cell
Input/Modeling: Students will move the cursor to a given set of cells and number them in accordance to a given list.
Checking for Understanding: Students will place a given list of numbers into cells.
Independent Practice: Student will place their collected data into the spreadsheet using "Excel."
Closure: Students will take a Quiz about (a.) rows (b.) columns (c.) cells (d.) opening "Excel" (e.) putting data into cells while using "Excel."
