RN-BSN Track

The Division of Nursing offers advanced placement for Registered Nurses holding an associate's degree or a diploma in nursing. For RNs admitted into the program, advanced placement by transfer credit is offered for prerequisite course requirements and nursing courses from other institutions of higher education. Upon admission, students may complete the program on a full-time or part-time basis. Students having scheduling space in their academic load may begin taking selected master's level nursing courses with permission of the advisor.

All students admitted to RN-to-BSN track are required to complete the following prior to the start of classes:

  • Submit evidence of specific immunizations as required by the Wilkins Wellness Center.
  • Submit proof of TDAP (Tetanus, Diphtheria and Pertussis).
  • Submit proof of PPD (Tuberculosis) which is to be renewed annually.
  • Submit proof of health insurance.
  • Submit evidence of generally good physically and mental health.
  • Complete a criminal background check through OneSource.
  • Student should expect to submit to random drug testing required by clinical practice sites.
  • Submit evidence of current Health Care Provider CPR certification from the American Heart Association.
  • Current licensure as a Registered Nurse in Virginia.

Students admitted to the program may challenge the 201 Health Assessment course for credit. All required upper-division course work for the RN to BSN track must be completed within five years of matriculation into the program.
