Degree Programs

Who can enroll for Shenandoah's transitional DPT program?

The program is open to any currently licensed Physical Therapist. For foreign trained licensed therapists, documentation of employment for 6 months in the United States is required. In order for you to have received your US PT license, all transcripts from non-U.S. institutions had to be submitted for an academic credential evaluation to obtain equivalency information regarding courses, credits, grades and degrees earned. We require a copy of your full evaluation to be submitted.

What is the cost?

Tuition is $532 per credit hour. Please note fees are subject to change without notice at the discretion of Shenandoah University's Business office.

How often will I need to plan on studying?

The TDPT program is an on-line, work at your own pace program. All lectures, handouts, tests and readings are on Blackboard for you to access whenever and as often as you wish. A syllabus is posted on each course outlining when all course work must be finished. There are no other time constraints for each course.

How many credits are required and how long does it take to complete?

For those students who have earned a Master's level PT degree or other health related graduate program, a total of 16 credits will be earned from Shenandoah University. These credit hours may be completed as a one year fast track (Track I) or stretched out over two years (Track II). For those students who have earned a BS level PT degree, the program (Track III) has a total of 20 credit hours earned at Shenandoah University and these courses will be offered over a 2 year period only.

Do I have to come to Winchester for the classes?

The program is mainly distance education using internet BlackBoard podcasting. Track I & II have one (1) on-campus weekend seminar required and scheduled for summer of the final semester. Track III students have two (2) on-campus weekend seminars. Anatomy will be the first summer of the program with the next onsite course occuring in summer of the final semester.

When will the program begin?

Track I & II begins the end of August. Tract III students will begin on-campus with Anatomy in the summer.
