Four Distinguished Public Servants Honored at Public Service Awards Banquet

The 2008 banquet is scheduled for Tuesday night, Sept. 30, in the beautiful new Ferrari Room (Brandt Student Center on main campus). If you have not had the opportunity to tour this facility, you will be most impressed. And certainly, we would love to have you attend this year’s banquet. Our local public servant awardee this year is John Wells. The regional honoree is Cate Magennis Wyatt, and the national awardee is the Honorable Donna Shalala, former secretary of health and human services in the Clinton administration and currently the presi-dent of the University of Miami. Our 2008 distinguished public servant of the year is Kenneth Fisher, CEO of the Fisher House Foundation.

The evening will begin at 6 p.m. with a reception followed by the banquet and program. We expect a pretty nice turnout; thus, reservations are required ($30 per attendee; $210 for table of 8). Please contact the institute office at 540-665-4696.
