Family Nurse Practitioner - Certificate
The Master of Science in Nursing Family Nurse Practitioner
Certificate track
prepares the MSN graduate with the necessary skills and knowledge to assume
the role of a primary health care provider in a variety of settings.
The program can be completed in 12 months fulltime with summer
courses. Part time program is available. Cohorts are
established in September or January. All classroom courses are
on Thursday. Clinical placement is arranged by faculty
and will be scheduled at the convenience of the facility hosting the
student.
Admission Requirements:

Completed
graduate application for admission, along with a $30
non-refundable application fee.

Completed
graduate nursing program application.

Earned MSN degree from CCNE accredited program.

Successful completion of MSN courses in physical assessment with
60 clock hours of lab, pathophysiology, and pharmacology.

Minimum graduate grade point average (GPA) of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale.

Official transcripts from all institutions of higher
education previously attended.

Be a Registered Nurse licensed in Virginia.

2,080 RN Clinical work hours prior to specialty courses

CPR certification as a Healthcare Provider from the American
Heart Association.

Up to date immunizations and health record submitted to Wilkins
Wellness Center at Shenandoah University.

Two (2) letters of recommendation

Complete Graduate Nursing Program interview process.
Transfer Credits:

Only grades of B or higher are transferable.

A
maximum of 6 credit hours.

to Begin:
Degree Requirements:
The
degree requirement is 23 semester hours with a grade of B or better in
all courses. Clinical
practicum is approximately 720 clock hours.
Specialty Courses:
Minimum grade of B required in all specialty courses.
