Our
History The "Arey Christian Character Center" is named in honor of the memory of Edgar and Lilly Arey, former residents of White Post, Virginia and members of White Post United Methodist Church. The Arey's were faithful members of the United Methodist Church and generous benefactors to student clergy and Shenandoah University. They gave the stained glass windows in Goodson Chapel in 1980, as well as, an endowment gift the University received at his death in 1998. This gift is designated to strengthen the Religious Programs offered by Shenandoah University. The Arey Christian Character Center seeks to offer students of Shenandoah University participation in programs and activities that bring them together with people of faith to witness to the Spirit of Christ on campus and in the community. Shenandoah University is located in Winchester, Virginia in the beautiful Shenandoah Valley, just 72 miles from Washington, DC. The University offers a unique combination of a small campus environment and easy access to both natural settings and large metropolitan areas. The University is a comprehensive, Level V accredited institution which offers more than 60 programs of study at the undergraduate, graduate, and professional levels in five schools: College of Arts and Sciences; Harry F. Byrd Jr. School of Business; Shenandoah Conservatory; School of Health Professions (Nursing, Respiratory Care, Occupational Therapy and Physical Therapy; and Bernard J.
