Sequence of Course
Associate Degree Requirements
In the associate degree program the student acquires specialized
training in adult and pediatric airway management, pathophysiology
of respiratory disease states, critical care patient management,
hemodynamic monitoring, and advanced cardiopulmonary diagnostics.
Courses in respiratory care are enhanced by study in humanities,
mathematics, physics, chemistry, and microbiology.
The student is
eligible to become a Registered Respiratory
Therapist after two years of study.
Management
curriculum is designed for the practitioner who
wishes to manage a respiratory care department,
supervise respiratory care personnel, or manage a
home respiratory care company. This bachelor's
degree is offered through the business school. The education curriculum
prepares the practitioner for a position as a
respiratory care educator in either a college
program or a hospital staff development program.
Advanced
Placement
Technician graduates of other programs have the
opportunity for advanced placement in the
Associate Degree curriculum. Direct transfer of
courses taken at other accredited institutions is
considered or written placement tests can be
arranged. Therapists with Associate Degrees in
Respiratory Care from recognized accredited
institutions are considered for direct admission
into the BSRC program.
