Shenandoah University TESOL
Who We Are

Brenda Murphy

Brenda Murphy

Brenda received her PhD in related performing arts from New York University's Graduate School of Education, and later added the MSEd-TESOL from Shenandoah University. She taught English in Japan for 16 years and has spent six months on sabbatical in Italy. Brenda's interests are varied: she has created ESL materials for music students, critiqued grammar textbooks, and has recently begun a serious study of issues concerning TESOL distance education. In addition to her current professional activities, Brenda is an instructor in the traditional Japanese art of Chado (the "way of tea").

Brenda joined the Shenandoah University faculty in 1996.
