-
All SU-TESOL programs and all courses are offered by
distance. Some courses may also be taken on campus.
-
Courses are available to suit a one-, two- or four-year
program of study.
-
All SU-TESOL students are assigned an academic
advisor who helps them with their studies:
o Choosing courses and program of study,
o Obtaining materials and course information, and
o Addressing employment counseling needs upon completion
of the program.
-
There are no live chats or required log-on
times!
-
Students may do coursework whenever it is
convenient for them – day or night, weekdays or weekends! Most instructors
do a weekly schedule, posted ahead of time. That means that
you can complete your work each week as your schedule allows.
-
Students can take their coursework with
them when they move or travel.
-
Course work is done on the Internet,
using Blackboard with textbooks and,
for some courses,
on DVD video
recordings. Blackboard
tutorials are available free of charge
for registered SU-TESOL students.
-
Instruction is student-centered.
Faculty help students to address
their questions
about content
as well
as time management.
Shenandoah University policies offer flexibility and fit for
busy TESOL students:
-
Students
may
skip
one
or
two
trimesters,
depending
on
their
scheduling needs.
-
SU-TESOL
students
have
six
years
to complete their degrees.
-
Students
are
expected
to
complete
courses in the term for which they
have registered.
However, they may request an Incomplete
grade in instances of personal emergency
(for example, a serious
illness in the family) at the instructor’s discretion.
