Is Shenandoah University TESOL right for you?
Whether you study on-site or by distance, virtually all of your work will be done online, and you will work at your own pace. If you are a distance student, you will view many hours of classroom video on DVDs. Do you have the self-discipline and self-reliance that this program requires? Do you have access to reliable, up-to-date computer hardware, software, and internet connectivity? Can you go online and check your email regularly? Do you have a computer that plays DVDs? See Coursework for a description of how our courses operate.
To which program will you apply ? Check the Program descriptions to make sure you are applying for the one that meets your needs. Note that transfer credits are accepted only for the MSED-TESOL program.
With how many courses will you start ?
Determine if you would like to study part or full-time.  Take into account your personal deadlines, work and family obligations, learning styles and habits, etc. Start with a small load, for example one course (3 credits), and see how it goes. Check the descriptions of the Courses for an idea of the work involved.
When will you start?
You may start at the beginning of any trimester (September, January, or May), since all courses are available every trimester. If you plan to take courses on-site, however, see the Course Planning Guidelines for information about on-site classes.
