Shenandoah Performs, now entering its 5th
season, is pleased to welcome back two outstanding artists
for its performances this summer: world-renowned violinist
Anne Akiko Meyers and virtuoso trumpeter Jens Lindemann.
On Saturday, July 5 at 8 pm and Sunday,
July 6 at 3 pm, the Shenandoah Performs Festival Orchestra
will accompany Ms. Meyers in Leonard Bernstein's thrilling
Serenade (after Plato's Symposium) scored
for solo violin, string orchestra, harp and percussion.
After intermission, members of the community, students and
faculty from Shenandoah Conservatory of Music join forces
with the Shenandoah Performs Festival Orchestra in a performance
of Beethoven's monumental last
Symphony No. 9 in d minor, op. 125, the so-called Choral
Symphony.
On Friday, July 11 at 8 pm, Jens
Lindemann is joined by prestigious Shenandoah Conservatory
Faculty and friends in a delightful evening of music, from
pops to classical, that is sure to please every imaginable
musical taste.
All performances take place in Armstrong
Concert Hall on the campus of Shenandoah University.
