CALLING 21 The Institute for Church Professions initiated a new program in Virginia, Calling 21. Visit the Calling 21 Web site >>> | In partnership with Bishop Kammerer, the Board of Ordained Ministry, the Fund for Theological Education, Wesley Theological Seminary and the Making Connections Initiative, Calling 21 is “Catalyzing a conference-wide, grass roots, congregation-based, youth-focused approach to the Virginia Conference’s emerging culture of call.” The vision is for churches across the Virginia Annual Conference to understand themselves as congregations engaged and invested in both sending and receiving the next generation of leaders for the church and the world. Through Calling 21, young adults across the conference explore the compelling questions of vocation, service, leadership and meaning. During the summers of 2007 and 2008, 19 college students were engaged in congregational immersion in 19 local churches across Virginia. The program received a grant from the Virginia Conference’s Making Connections Initiative for 2007 and 2008.
