Welcome to Residence Life at Shenandoah University! Residence Life
is all about living in an environment that contributes to you being
happy and engaged while you achieve academic success. There are
many opportunities to become involved and many traditions in
Residence Life that foster friendship and community. You don’t want
to miss Welcome Week where friendships are made that last a
lifetime. Attend the Funk/Gore Wal*Mart Scavenger Hunt – another
fine First Year/Freshman tradition! Go to Parker
Hall’s Haunted House on Halloween. Check out the Racey Lounge where
they have late night card games. And don’t miss the Funk/Gore
Turkey Bowling Tournament! Or, help to start a new tradition where
you live- new ideas start wit you! Enjoy the variety of activities
in the city of Winchester and explore the beautiful surrounding area
nestled in Blue Ridge Mountains which is ideal for hiking, climbing,
biking and other outdoor activities.

you are a new student at Shenandoah for the Fall semester, and have
not registered please take the first STEPS [http://www.su.edu/admissions/steps.cfm]
to register for housing. If you are entering for the Spring, please
complete a HOUSING APPLICATION [http://www.su.edu/admissions/housing_app.cfm].

There's more to school than just work!
Residential life encourages
student involvement in the university community, increased out
of class learning, and engagement in the xperi
SU Residency Requirement:
All full-time undergraduate students
enrolled at the Winchester campus are reStudents
are required to live in the university
residence halls for the duration of their first and second year at
Shenandoah University*.
Transfer students with less than 36 credit hours when they enter the
university are required to live on campus.
There
is no residency requirement for students enrolled at the Leesburg
campus.
*Exceptions
to this requirement will be available only if students are:

Living with parents or legal guardians and commuting to campus.

Married, living with spouse.

Twenty-two years of age, or older (on the first day of the semester of
application).

Exemptions will be made by the
VP for Student
Affairs, but must be requested in writing.
Written requests for exception must be received in the
Student Affairs Office no later than 30 days prior to the first day of
classes in the semester that students are applying to live off campus.
Waiver requests should include verification of the required conditions.
