Vision Statement
SU Outdoors educates and inspires individuals to be responsible stewards of the natural world while engaging in adventure recreation.
Mission Statement
SU Outdoors introduces the campus community to a wide variety of outdoor activities, with offerings for all experience levels. Participants develop basic skills for safe and environmentally responsible exploration of natural resources in the Shenandoah Valley and beyond. SU Outdoors fosters a life-long appreciation for and participation in the outdoors.
Values Statement
SU Outdoors offers activities that promote self-awareness and self-esteem, cultivate personal growth, develop interpersonal and outdoor leadership skills and strengthen the SU community dynamic through fun, outdoor group adventures. The program operates within the framework of Leave No Trace outdoor ethics as well as the Challenge by Choice and Full Value Contract philosophies.
NEW! SU Outdoors is sponsoring two overnight, outdoor adventure trips for new students only this August. The 2011 Pre-Welcome Week Overnight Trips offer students the opportunity to explore and experience beautiful natural resources and form lasting friendships with their peers before classes even begin.
