ACT Guiding Principles
Our guiding principles describe what we are striving to accomplish and align these efforts to the Shenandoah University Strategic Plan, Shenandoah 2025.
ACT strives to:
- Drive toward technology efficiencies and cost savings.
- Shift more of our resources into supporting teaching, learning, and research.
- Identify opportunities to enable agility and enhance ease of use.
- Forge strategic partnerships and leverage resources wherever possible.
- Become trusted partners who empower and support Shenandoah’s students, faculty, and staff.
ACT actively works toward:
- Experimentation in technology for teaching and learning.
- Student expectations for personalized and interactive learning with technology.
- Equitable access in online and other education delivery models.
- Enhancing the physical campus and learning spaces.
- Exploiting rapidly changing technologies in higher education.
- Growing social, mobile, analytic, cloud, and video technologies.
The ACT working group developed the following standards for teaching with technology in video teleconferencing (VTC) and general classrooms to assist in forecasting costs and installation schedules. Visit ACT Technology Standards to learn more.
As a component of CTLT, the mission of ACT is supporting Technology Enhanced Active Learning (TEAL) to inspire students through transformative learning and to strengthen support for faculty scholarship using technology. CTLT/ACT is a champion for pedagogically sound and effective use of technology for instruction through the support of systematic explorations of learning technologies aimed at enhancing student success.
