As promising scholars, we want to support you in developing advanced skills which will be essential to your success in applying for and continuing to succeed in graduate school. Among the most important skills in research is learning to publish your findings in high impact peer-reviewed journals.
That’s why we’re offering you a chance to participate in the SU Student Research Publications Institute 2023, a limited professional development opportunity funded by the Virginia Innovation Partnership Corporation and offered in collaboration with Publication Academy.
This free online academy/institute is open to 20 students who want to develop and hone their ability to produce polished academic writing for peer-reviewed journals, papers, poster presentations, conferences, and more!

- How to formulate each section of your manuscript for publication
- How to structure a manuscript for publication
- How to prepare professional figures and graphs for displaying results
- How to select the best journal for your work
- How to navigate the peer review process, respond to reviewer comments and revise your manuscript accordingly
- And so much more!
This is a fantastic opportunity to prepare for graduate school and/or job applications and should feature a prominent spot in the training section of your resume/CV.

Eligibility: Undergraduate and graduate students from all disciplines are eligible to apply for this program, though priority is given to undergraduate students.
Spots are limited; application required.

Dr. Jay Singh, Publication Academy Founder and CEO
Jay Phoenix Singh, Ph.D., Ph.D., is a Fulbright Scholar and the internationally award-winning Executive Director of Publication Academy. Author of over 85 peer-reviewed articles and book chapters (average 400+ citations/year since 2010) as well as four books (published by Routledge, Wiley, Sage, and Oxford University Press), he completed his graduate doctoral studies in psychiatry at the University of Oxford and clinical psychology at Universität Konstanz. He was named the youngest tenured Full Professor in Norway in 2014 before accepting faculty appointments at the University of Cambridge as well as the University of Pennsylvania.

Dr. Sarch oversees academic programs across the university’s six schools, emphasizing experiences that bring together undergraduate and graduate students, provide research and hands-on learning opportunities, and encourage creative, meaningful collaboration.
Dr. Audra Gollenberg, Full Professor of Public Health & Live Webinar Facilitator
With an active research program in reproductive health, Dr. Gollenberg has received both internal and external grants to support her research while involving her students in academic and community-based projects. Dr. Gollenberg has over 15 years of experience conducting scholarly research. Over that time, Dr. Gollenberg has published over 40 peer-reviewed publications and several textbook chapters and has over 1000 citations of her work. She also serves as a peer reviewer for over a dozen academic journals and serves on the Editorial Board of Frontiers in Global Women’s Health. Her passion is mentoring students in the research process and meeting them where they are.
