M.B.A. candidate, Shenandoah University
Hometown: Alexandria, VA.
My hobbies: During college, I was an SU cheerleader and played on the women’s tennis team. I also love coaching. I am a current cheerleading coach at Millbrook High School in Winchester.
My favorite spots around SU: My favorite area on campus is the Wilkins Athletic & Event Center and my favorite activity is going tubing down the Shenandoah River at Watermelon Park.
What makes SU special to me: I was a transfer student coming into SU, and from day 1, SU made me feel at home. I was on the fence about pursuing my degree as a first-generation college student but as soon as I stepped foot on campus, I knew that this was the place for me. SU shaped me into the person I am today and introduced me to professors, friends, and colleagues that I now consider family.
My advice: Don’t sell yourself short. If there is a school you really want to go to, apply. You miss 100% of the chances you don’t take and the fear of being told no shouldn’t hold you back from the chance at your dream school. Also, ask a lot of questions. Find out everything you want to know so that you can compare schools and figure out which one is the best for you. Take EVERY opportunity. Be bold. Shenandoah offers something for everyone. Say yes to different opportunities and don’t only surround yourself with people you came into SU with, or people on your sports team, step out of your comfort zone and meet new people. The people you never thought you’d get along with could end up being your lifelong friends.
