Dear Alumni, Faculty, Staff and Friends,
Autumn is here and one of the best places to see colorful autumn leaves is SU’s campus. While on campus last weekend attending the many Homecoming activities and events, I thought “wow,” SU really is picturesque. It wasn’t just the foliage that made me think it was so beautiful, but also the buildings such as Roni’s Roost, the second house in The Village, named after Roni Flett Wilkins. Roni’s Roost was dedicated on Friday.
This is an exciting time at SU with the groundbreaking of the new Athletics & Events Center that will open late-fall 2017 and upgrades to the perimeter of campus. One of the things that I love about SU is that the university is always looking forward, living in the present, but never fails to celebrate and recognize alumni from the past.
Congratulations to the reunion classes that spanned the decades from the 1950s to 2010s and to the 2016 Distinguished Alumni Awards recipients who attended the Alumni Celebration Dinner. The recipients are Gretchen Chomas ’07, ’10, Service to the Community; Kenneth Green II ’05, Young Career Achievement; Jim Stutzman ’81, Service to the University; Gregory Wanamaker ’91, Professional Achievement; and Tommy Joe Anderson ’69, Lifetime Achievement.
We would like to celebrate and recognize you this fall by including some of your accomplishments in class notes. So, take a few minutes and send a quick email to bmerriner64@gmail.com.
I look forward to hearing from you soon.
