Dear Alumni and Friends,
It certainly has been a November to remember at Shenandoah the past few weeks. On Nov. 5, the world-famous Harlem Globetrotters took on the Washington Generals at the James R. Wilkins, Jr. Athletics & Events Center. My husband, Pete, and I had the pleasure of taking in the game with our oldest son, Drew. We had an absolute blast. The evening was full of fun, laughs and entertainment. It was definitely a night to remember for a long time. The energy in The Jimmy was electric.
And, just last night I was able to join the Shenandoah community, including administration, faculty, staff, students and board of trustees members, for the world premiere of the film “Santa Girl” at the Alamo Drafthouse in Winchester. What an amazing night filled with red carpets, bright lights, cameras and celebrities – local and national. The premiere blew me away. In fall of 2017, the filming and production of “Santa Girl” took place at both Shenandoah University and in the Winchester community with post-production happening on campus in spring of 2018. This film and production is thanks in large part to Lecturer for Film Studies & Mass Communications Paul DiFranco, who has connections to Capital Arts Entertainment. I have to say that Josh Cody, a Shenandoah Conservatory junior musical theatre major, was amazing! He looked like an absolute natural on the big screen. It was such a joy to see Shenandoah and the entire Winchester community come together on this production. I cannot wait to see where this film goes in the future.
I hope you all enjoy the Thanksgiving holiday with your family, friends and loved ones. Take time to celebrate the moments you have together and what you are grateful for this holiday season. Cheers!
