Hello!
Greetings from Winchester! I hope your Labor Day weekend was restful. The weather was beautiful here in Winchester. My husband and I were able to attend a concert for the first time this weekend – it was wonderful to do something so normal while still wearing a mask and being socially distanced!
This week marked the first day of school for many school districts both locally and across the nation. It is certainly a different beginning to the school year as students and teachers can attest. Virtual and hybrid learning will be challenging for everyone. Hopefully we will soon be able to transition to in-person learning. The SU campus recently welcomed new and returning students for the fall semester. The campus is busy as students participate in virtual and in-person classes. I remain very impressed by the way SU administration is handling keeping students socially distant and monitoring their health. If you can, please follow SU on social media to find out the latest news.
By now you may have received an email about Homecoming registration and events. Registration has begun and I hope you will consider participating. Although totally virtual this year, I am excited to participate in as many events as I can! It will be wonderful to see friends and professors virtually. Be sure to check out the event schedule and register to participate in events that interest you! I need to thank the Donor & Alumni Relations staff for their hard work to make Homecoming happen. They work tirelessly behind the scenes to ensure every alumni event is a success.
I hope each of you and your families are staying safe and well. It seems we are gradually returning to a new normal, whatever that may look like. Many of us who have been working from home are gradually transitioning to going back to our offices, businesses, and classrooms. My husband and I have been very lucky that we have been able to spend time with our children and grandchildren. They have been a bright spot for us over the past few months.
Please check out the Virtual Homecoming activities planned for October! No travel is involved to see the campus and your classmates! Hope to see you then – virtually, of course!
Best,
Susan Helsley
