Meet the 2018 Counselors
Lora-Maria Koytcheva
Hi! My name is Lora-Maria Koytcheva and I am a student at Shenandoah University with a major in Biology and a minor in Chemistry. This summer, I will have completed my 3rd year of undergrad here at SU and will be starting at the Bernard J. Dunn School of Pharmacy in August.
I am originally from Bulgaria, but I grew up in Fredericksburg, Virginia, which is not too far from here! I am part of a many clubs and organizations here at SU including the Debate Team, the Ethics Bowl Team, Beta Beta Beta Biological Honor Society, Omicron Delta Kappa, the First Year Seminar Program, Pre-Pharmacy Society and the Health and Life Sciences Club. My favorite part of it all is meeting new people, many outside of my major, and working on service projects together as a team.
What I have learned from my experiences in school thus far, is that you can do anything if you set your mind to it. The important part is to stay focused on your goals, be willing to work and cooperate with others and their ideas, but most importantly, be ready to face challenges. I started as just a member of these clubs, but my determination and willingness to be part of something bigger led me to move up and hold leaderships roles in many of them.
I am looking forward to meeting and working with all of you this summer!
Walker Konkle
My name is Walker Konkle and I just finished my first year as a graduate student at Shenandoah University studying Performing Arts Leadership and Management. I’m originally from Williamsport, Pennsylvania (commonly known as the home of the Little League World Series) and attended Penn State for my undergrad. Needless to say, if it involves Penn State football, you can count me in! This past spring, I graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Violin Performance with an emphasis on arts entrepreneurship. Although my current focus is not on performing, I try my best to play whenever possible.
I am currently the Graduate Fellow for the Center for Public Service and Scholarship working alongside Dr. Schultz. This experience has been life changing and I am excited to share with you this summer how leadership and service are harmonious with one another. When I started my first year of college, I was lost about where to begin. The skills learned during this week will be transforming and serve as the foundation for the next stage of your life.
