Shenandoah University will consider 14 finalists for its Loudoun County Teacher of the Year Award.
Shenandoah University will consider 14 finalists for its Loudoun County Teacher of the Year Award. The university held a reception to recognize the finalists on Thursday, April 26 at Rehau Incorporated in Leesburg, Va. The 14 finalists include:

- Mary Kathleen Bennett, Catoctin Elementary School
- Darren Bernard, Pinebrook Elementary School
- Augusta Dadiego, Freedom High School
- Beth Dover, Farmwell Station Middle School
- Melissa Engquist, Belmont Ridge Middle School
- Julie Galvin, Steuart Weller Elementary School
- Christine Ghess, Arcola Elementary School
- Loretta Hall, Sterling Elementary School
- Sean Hartmetz, Dominion High School
- Corinne Joseph, Kenneth W. Culbert Elementary
- Alexis Schaeffer, Sycolin Creek Elementary School
- Ike Stoneberger, Loudoun Valley High School
- Susan Walker, Ball’s Bluff Elementary School
The Loudoun County Teacher of the Year Award was created 16 years ago to recognize quality teachers in Loudoun County, Va. in specialized areas of study. A screening committee from Shenandoah University and Loudoun County Public Schools will select the winner based on commitment to students and teaching, subject knowledge, teaching philosophy, ability to manage and monitor student learning as well as service to the community. The winner will be announced at the Loudoun County School Board meeting on Tuesday, May 8.
