Professor of Accounting and Braun Chair in Accounting Charles J. Pineno, Ph.D., retired in August 2013 after a long and accomplished career in business education for more than 40 years. After joining the faculty of Shenandoah University’s Harry F. Byrd, Jr. School of Business (Byrd School) in 2004, Dr. Pineno served on the faculty senate, chaired the Information and Technology Committee and participated on several Byrd School committees. He was selected to serve as adviser, secretary and treasurer of Beta Gamma Sigma, the International Business Honor Society. He has authored or co-authored 20 journal articles, 26 proceedings articles and 30 paper presentations. Dr. Pineno was recognized twice by the Byrd School faculty for outstanding scholarship and once for excellence in teaching. He traveled to China with a group of MBA students in 2008 and, more recently, to Al Akhawayn University in Ifrane, Morocco, where he presented his research and publications to faculty and students. Since 2011, he served as director to the IMA Research Foundation and as associate editor for the Academy of Business Disciplines Journal, co-sponsored by Shippensburg University of Pennsylvania and the Byrd School.
