Research by several Shenandoah Conservatory music therapy students was recently published in Volume No. 7, Issue No. 1 of imagine.magazine, a publication dedicated to childhood music therapy. A podcast by Assistant Professor of Music Therapy Hakeem Leonard, Ph.D., was also published in the issue.

Salley to Present Copyright and Fair Use Research at Biannual Joint Meeting of the American Musicological Society and Society for Music Theory
Coordinator of Music Theory and Associate Professor of Music Keith Salley, Ph.D., will travel to Vancouver, British Columbia, in November to present “Navigating Copyright Permissions/Evaluating Fair Use” at the biannual joint meeting of the American Musicological Society and the Society for Music Theory. His presentation is part of a panel consisting of internationally prominent authors, editors, and administrators from both societies who engage in scholarship with copyrighted music. Salley began assembling this panel over a year ago to begin a greater dialogue within the disciplines of music theory and musicology regarding copyright law, the limits of fair use, and publishers’ and authors’ rights in these matters.
Herman Invited to Present at the National In-service Conference Hosted by the National Association for Music Education (NAfME)
Adjunct Associate Professor of Music Theory Matthew Herman, D.M.A., has been invited to present a workshop on composition pedagogy at the National In-service Conference hosted by the National Association for Music Education (NAfME) November in Grapevine, Texas, this November. The title of his presentation is “Composition in the Secondary Classroom: Incorporating the New Music Standards.”
Sposato Invited to Present at the National Association of Schools of Music’s National Conference
Associate Dean for Undergraduate Studies and Professor of Voice (Soprano) Aimé Sposato, D.M.A., has been invited to present during the main session of the national conference for the National Association of Schools of Music (NASM) in Dallas, Texas, in November. Sposato joins two of her esteemed colleagues in a panel discussion titled, “The Doctor of Musical Arts: Its Role and Purpose,” a common topic in arts programs in higher education. Shenandoah Conservatory has been accredited by NASM since 1940.
