Freshman Emily Yergin leads two Shenandoah University selections to the Virginia Sports Information Directors Association (VaSID) College Division All-State team in selections announced by the organization on Dec. 7.
Yergin, the ODAC Rookie of the Year, adds to her honors total by being named first team All-State in addition to VaSID Rookie of the Year.
Junior defender Michelle Krause gives Shenandoah a second honoree with her selection as a defender on the second team.
Yergin led Shenandoah and the ODAC this season with 21 goals and eight assists for 50 points. Six of her goals were game-winners and she was named ODAC Player of the Week three consecutive weeks in the middle of the season.
Yergin was previously named first team All-ODAC, ODAC Rookie of the Year and to the NSCAA third team All-South Region.
She is the first Shenandoah women’s soccer player to earn VaSID Rookie of the Year accolades.
Krause, a three-year starter for the Hornets, grabs a second team All-State spot after anchoring the Shenandoah defense again in 2016. Shenandoah shut 12 opponents out this season and advanced to the ODAC Tournament semi-finals for the fifth consecutive season.
This the second straight year that Krause has been named second team All-State.
