The fall semester has given us much to consider. A polarized country went to the polls, while a large percentage of people between the ages of 18 and 29 chose to sit out the election. On a local level, Winchester elected its first African-American mayor and its first Democrat to that office in over 40 years. Shenandoah University opened the first two buildings in The Village, an apartment-style residential community for upperclass students and broke ground on a new Athletics & Events Center. The Harry F. Byrd, Jr. School of Business welcomed Dr. Bogdan Daraban as its new associate dean, as it said goodbye to Dr. R.T. Good’s 25 years of service to Shenandoah University.
The semester has been full of uncertainties and transitions, yet we at the Byrd School of Business remain steadfastly committed to our mission “…to produce successful, principled leaders, with a global perspective.” Know that as you go home to celebrate the holiday season and discuss the events of the day with family and friends, we at BSB will be waiting and preparing for your return. We will be exploring our curriculum and course content to assure that we are not just preparing you for the world that is, but for a world that can shift and allow for those with the proper education to seize opportunities.
In times of uncertainty, it is good to know that some things never change. We hope for you that is the love of family and friends. We also assure you that the Byrd School will be here when you return, committed, as always, to providing you with a value-added educational experience.
Wishing you and yours a most joyous holiday season.
