My experience in Barcelona was everything I had ever imagined and more. The city is filled with so many historic sites filled with beautiful, precise architecture that fills your heart with romance with every sight you take in. Today, we visited the La Sagrada Familia cathedral and I have never seen anything so beautiful.
Our previous days have been filled with constantly changing and unpredictable plans along with a 5 hour flight delay due to the weather. When we arrived at the city, I still felt like I needed to constantly catch up and bring myself into the current moment wherever we went at the time.
The moment I looked at the La Sagrada Familia, I felt a sense of peacefulness and I finally caught up with the time. As we walked inside, we could see all of the biblical references built into the building and all of the tiny details that were embedded into the arts. Mass then began and our group decided to stay and experience mass. The locals and other tourists that went to mass welcomed us into prayer and allowed us to explore their place of worship.
Although I have grown up with no preference to a religion, I enjoyed the whole experience and for those few minutes spent in the La Sagrada Familia cathedral, I felt like I was one of the locals and belonged to this amazing city.
