Career services is like a key to reading the map that leads you to your ideal career. My counselor, Jen Spataro-Wilson, guided me through this map to find my strengths and weaknesses this semester. In return, this has helped me better understand myself and what type of career is best for me. I believe that without these tools, such as the MyPlan website and counseling, I would have not been able to find my summer internship that I am currently in. I encourage all students to utilize Career Services, and it is never to early to start working with them!”

On Saturday I had my interview at Shenandoah University School of Pharmacy and I think it went well. I was nervous but mostly excited. After the interview, I realized that our mock interview helped so much! I felt comfortable expressing my answers and reviewing my answers with you was so helpful because I took your advice which made the interview flow smoothly.”

I first found out about the great resources Career Services could offer to students my sophomore year of college. During my undergraduate studies at SU, I went for help in resume building and also in tips for interviews due to a position I wanted to receive on campus that I thought would be perfect for me. The Director of Career Services, Jen Spataro-Wilson, along with the other amazing staff in the office helped me enhance my areas of strengths and acknowledge my weaknesses, in order to promote my best self for my desired position. I ended up receiving the job and it truly was because of all the guidance and help I had received from Career Services throughout the entire process. They even gave me tips on how to follow-up with interviews and what types of ‘thank you’ notes are most appropriate. Ever since, I always stop by Career Services and have someone from their friendly office help me review, edit, or compose cover letters, resumes, scholarship applications/essays, and CVs. When it was time for me to apply to graduate schools, the Office of Career Services was with me every step of the way and promoted the knowledge, encouragement, and self-confidence that I needed to be fully prepared for what was to come.”

I have turned in the paperwork, and my major is officially changed to Psychology! I am also registered for psychology classes next semester. Thank you so much for all your help! I would still be stressing about what I wanted to do if I hadn’t met with you.”
– Tori Finney, Psychology, Sophomore
I have always had a great experience with career services. Jen and everyone else has helped me with finding internships as well as giving me the skills to build my resume and cover letters to send to potential employers.”
– Elizabeth Levey, Mass Communications, Junior
I met with Career Services to solidify my resume for an internship in the fall. The entire staff was very friendly and clearly wanted me to succeed. With the help of Alisa, I was able to work through my resume, and was amazed with how much we accomplished in an hour. I was pleased with my experience and will definitely return when I am beginning my job applications.”
– Melissa Santoro, Music Production and Recording Technology, Sophomore
I was offered the internship position that I was interviewing for to after our meeting together! I used the resume that you edited and I strongly believe that it was one of the major reasons why I was offered the job. So on that note, I wanted to thank you for helping me through this entire process. That resume that you edited/boosted was awesome and my employer must have thought the same.”
