During our Tuesday, March 14 visit to the rehabilitation center known as Celestyne just south of Wroclaw, Poland we saw many different interventions such as therapeutic riding, animal and art therapy, as well as an integrated Kindergarten program. Our visit ended with a walk through this tiny Polish village to the pottery factory where adults with disabilities produce amazing ceramics that are sold to raise funds that support the center. The Polish government only provides half of what is needed to operate the center. The neurologist who began the center with her sister 25 years ago must engage in constant fundraising efforts to raise funds in order to provide much needed services for those with intellectual and physical disabilities. These sisters show much devotion to the individuals they serve, referring to their faith that makes them strong in spirit.
