HALO Barbershop Quartet

January 21 @ 3:00 pm - 5:00 pm

HALO Barbershop Quartet is from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. in Goodson Chapel, Recital Hall. The Race and #RealTalk program uses barbershop singing as a metaphorical framework to guide healthy and productive dialogue on issues of racism in the United States. The program is a community music therapy initiative by HALO, Inc., developed by Niambi Powell, LCSW, and Shana Oshiro, MT-BC. Shana is a Shenandoah University alumna and masters student. HALO is a women’s barbershop quartet—the first  quartet comprised of African American singers, including Portia Pitts and Jasmine Barnes (alumnae of Morgan State University with Oshiro), to compete on the international stage of a Barbershop organization.
