Igniting the Fuse: John Brown’s Trial – Virtual Reality Experience

January 21 @ 12:00 pm - 5:00 pm

Igniting the Fuse: John Brown’s Trial – Virtual Reality Experience is from noon to 5 p.m. in the Brandt Student Center, Ferrari Room. An introduction will be given by Jonathan Noyalas, Director of the McCormick Civil War Institute explaining the significance of this trial and provide insight into the making of the virtual reality experience. Although separated by more than a century, Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. and abolitionist John Brown believed the American republic could never move forward so long as inequality ran rampant. Although the two men held vastly different views on how to combat inequality, both believed their lives might need to be sacrificed in order to advance liberty’s cause. This MLK day immerse yourself in the events of John Brown’s trial–a critical moment on the path to slavery’s destruction, African American equality, and the legislation of the Civil Rights era. For more information, please contact Jonathan Noyalas at jnoyalas01@su.edu.
