Invisible System

Invisible System Shepherd University’s Office for Diversity and Contemporary American Theater Festival (CATF) are excited to host this community event on Thursday, March 3, 2022, from 6 – 8:30pm. Participants will watch the documentary, “Invisible Systems: My Experience with Privilege and Racism through Story and Song”, which will be streamed via Zoom. Following the documentary viewing, participants will break into three discussion groups to communicate with community and friends about the impact of systems of discrimination in politics, among BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, and People of Color), or in theatre and the arts.

The event will close with a small panel of speakers who will interconnect the ideas presented during the breakout sessions. The breakout leaders will share their centered stories about the Invisible System’s experience as they converse with Dr. Chiquita Howard-Bostic, Associate Vice President of Diversity and Equity at Shepherd University.

The Invisible Systems’ text is by Lisa Bromfield / Songs by Lisa & Bill Bromfield / Soundtrack by Bill Bromfield / Visuals by Lisa Bromfield and Angela Bowden. The documentary includes 8 original songs blended with dialogue, visuals and personal stories exploring the author’s experience of her societal position, advantages and realizations about personal and systemic racism.
