James Ransome, author/illustrator, speaks about his book, “Be A King, Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s Dream and You” A virtual event for children K-4 will be held at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, January 19. “Everybody can be great because everybody can serve….You only need a heart full of grace, a soul generated by love.” Martin Luther King Jr.’s words speak to children in this book, showing how anyone can “be a King.” The Children’s Book Council named James E. Ransome one of 75 authors and illustrators everyone should know. He has illustrated more than sixty books for children. His awards include a Coretta Scott King Illustrator Award and numerous Coretta Scott King Honor awards. His other titles include “Uncle Jed’s Barbershop”, “Sweet Clara and the Freedom Quilt” and “Before She was Harriet.” Please contact kmycko@su.edu with any questions about these events.
