Post-sabbatical Colloquium Talk: From Lecture Materials to Book Contract

January 18, 2017 @ 4:00 pm - 5:00 pm

What happens on sabbatical doesn’t stay on sabbatical.

Today’s presentation: CF Thies, Professor of Money, Banking and Finance will present “From Lecture Materials to Book Contract.”  Held in Smith 318.  RSVP HERE.  Complimentary wine and cheese will  be served.

Abstract: Do you develop lecture materials to support your courses? These can form the basis of a book. The process of developing lecture materials often involves tangencies between course work and research, updating information found in the textbook, the creation of power points and the development of examinations. Delivering the course several times might result in a lot of such items. In my sabbatical colloquium, I will discuss how you might be able to turn your lecture materials into book form, or perhaps into some other publication form or into a public lecture, what has been termed the scholarship of dissemination.
