Socks of Love
January 23 @ 11:00 am - 2:00 pm
Socks of Love is from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the Brandt Student Center, room 118. Did you know that in cold enough conditions, frostbite can occur in fewer than 30 minutes! Warm, well-fitting socks can prevent this for many people. Unfortunately, socks are the least donated items to shelters. To assist local homeless women and children in staying healthy, safe, and warm this winter, the America Association of University Women (AAUW) @SU and the [Not Just] Women’s Center will be hosting an event to stuff socks with toiletries, and other useful products. Please come stuff a sock and help those in need. Come for just a few minutes or stay for the whole time. Also, in addition to or in lieu of stuffing socks, please feel free to help us by donating: women’s socks, feminine hygiene products, lotions, soap, chapsticks, shampoo, body wash, conditioner, and other small toiletry items. We are collecting socks and other donations starting December 2 through January 22 in the [Not Just] Women’s Center or in the Smith Library. Please pre-register for this event. Feel free to bring donations to the event on January 23 as well. For more information, please contact the Not Just Women’s Center at firstname.lastname@example.org. This event is held as a part of our week long celebration of the life of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.
