The Clothesline Project

April 19 @ 10:00 am - 4:00 pm

The Clothesline Project will take place from 10.00 a.m.-4.00 p.m. in the Brandt Student Center. The Clothesline Project is a national campaign started in 1990 to address the issue of violence against women. It is a visual display of art created on t-shirts by survivors of physical, sexual and emotional violence to express their feelings and stories of abuse and survival. The shirt is then hung on a clothesline to be viewed by the public as testimony to the problem of interpersonal violence and to let those who may suffer in silence know that they are not alone. The [Not Just] Women’s Center invites you to make a shirt for yourself or in honor of someone else on Monday April 19 and Tuesday April 20. They will be displayed on the quad, on Wednesday April 21. The Clothesline Project is a visual display that bears witness to the violence against women. For more information, please contact Sarah Celec in the [Not Just] Women’s Center at thenjwc@su.edu
