January 27

|Recurring Event (See all)

An event every day that begins at 12:00 am, repeating until January 27, 2019

The Global Game Jam® (GGJ) will be held from January 25-January 27 in the Health & Life Sciences Building, Shenandoah Center For Immersive Learning (SCIL) Lab. The Global Game Jam is an exciting opportunity for SU students and interested community members to come together and develop games of all kinds. The Global Game Jam® (GGJ) is the world’s largest game jam event (game creation) taking place around the world at physical locations. The weekend stirs a global creative buzz in games, while at the same time exploring the process of development, be it programming, iterative design, narrative exploration or artistic expression. It is all condensed into a 48-hour development cycle. The GGJ encourages people with all kinds of backgrounds to participate and contribute to this global spread of game development and creativity.

People are invited to explore new technology tools, trying on new roles in development and testing their skills to do something that requires them to design, develop create, test and make a new game in the time span of 48 hours. Co-sponsors of the event include Dr. Joey Gawrysiak and the new esports program as well as Jessica OShaughnessy with the Computer Science program. One important point is that this event is not open to anyone under 18 years old due to the overnight nature of the jam event.  For more information, please visit the website for sign up
