Turnitin in Canvas Assignments

November 21, 2018 @ 12:00 pm - 1:00 pm

A workshop for using Turnitin in Canvas Assignments will be held from 12 to 1 p.m. on Wednesday November 21 in Smith Library, room 318, or remotely via Zoom. Register Here

Turnitin is an electronic text matching system that compares text in a student assignment against a database of sources. It is not a plagiarism detection system per se, because it does not evaluate the inclusion or accuracy of citations and references; Turnitin just finds text that matches other sources and shows them to you in an Originality Report, which helps you make informed evaluations of student work and discern if the student needs instruction, correction or judicial action.

Covered in this session:

– Creating a Canvas assignment using Turnitin
– Canvas assignment options
– Turnitin options
– Grading with Speedgrader (Canvas) vs. Feedback Suite (Turnitin)

Please bring your laptop.

Email ghoffman@su.edu and/or rbrugger2@su.edu with questions.
