What’s The Story: A Behind the Scenes Look at Politics in 2025—and Beyond

February 24 @ 4:00 pm - 5:30 pm

Director of Center for Story at Shenandoah Sean Murphy, M.A., is joined by Mike Shields to discuss how all aspects of story and narrative impact contemporary politics on Feb. 24 at 4 p.m. in Hazel-Pruitt Armory. Shields, a veteran political operative, campaign manager, and political commentator for CNN, understands how story (written, visual, audio, etc.) intersects with public relations, marketing, and even sales, and how it’s an integral aspect of political discourse, including how politicians promote their policy, debate it, and implement it. Shields was also a Georgetown Institute of Politics Fellow, and regularly provides guidance to young people looking for a career in politics. If you’re curious about a true “behind the scenes” look at how modern politics works, this session is for you. As always, audience Q&A is encouraged and Beyond The Classroom credits apply! For more information, email Sean Murphy at CenterForStory@su.edu.
