Wind Ensemble & Conservatory Choirs

September 21 @ 7:30 pm - 9:00 pm

Wind Ensemble & Conservatory Choirs will begin at 7:30 p.m. in Armstrong Hall, Armstrong Concert Hall. The Wind Ensemble (Tim Robblee, conductor) joins Shenandoah Conservatory’s vocal and choral ensembles, under the direction of Matt Oltman, Karen Keating and Jeff Marlatt, to celebrate Winchester’s 275th birthday. The concert features music from the northern Shenandoah Valley, as well as music written and performed around the world at the time of Winchester’s founding. Highlights include popular works written and recorded in Winchester; Bach’s intimate and tender fifth motet, “Komm, Jesu, Komm” (BWV 229), choral masterpieces from the Mexican Baroque; music by Shenandoah University Professor Emeritus, William Averitt; and a culminating beloved work for combined choirs and band. Visit www.conservatoryperforms.org for more information.

Tickets are $15 for adults, $13 for senior citizens and $5 for non-SU students. Purchase tickets at the Ohrstrom-Bryant Theatre box office; call 540/665-4569 or go to www.conservatoryperforms.org. The box office is open 12 p.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday and two hours before this performance at the venue. Shenandoah University faculty and staff are eligible for complimentary or discounted tickets for most performances, pending availability. Free “rush” tickets are available to SU students two hours prior to this performance.
