Division of Education and Leadership Scholarship
Students admitted to any SU Bachelor of Education program in the Division of Education and Leadership may apply for this scholarship. scholarship applicants must complete the Teacher Education Majors in the DOEL Scholarship Application Form and submit an essay, a statement of financial need, and a letter of recommendation. Preference will be given to student(s) who have completed Teachers for Tomorrow coursework for dual-enrollment credit through Shenandoah University.
Each scholarship will be awarded to a student for four years; dispersed in the amounts of $2,000 in year one, and $1,000 in years two through four. Ten scholarships will be awarded in Fall 2021 to students who matriculate to the university as a major in elementary, middle, or secondary teaching in the Bachelor of Education degree program. Five of the scholarships shall be awarded to individuals from diverse backgrounds. Diversity is defined by Virginia law as: “. . . the wide range of differences among groups of people and individuals based on ethnicity, race, socioeconomic status, gender, exceptionalities, language, religion, and geographical area.”
