Be a Part of the Future of Health Care Delivery
Shenandoah University and Inova are offering an in-demand graduate-level adult gerontology nurse practitioner program at the Inova Center for Personalized Health, located just outside the Beltway, off Gallows Road in Fairfax, Virginia.
This primary care program focuses on the care of adults, from young adults (including adolescents and emancipated minors) to the elderly. An AGNP provides patient-centered, quality care for this population.
The Master of Science in Nursing (MSN): Adult-Gerontology Primary Care Nurse Practitioner (AGPCNP) is designed to provide the Bachelor’s-level educated nurse with the necessary knowledge, skills, values, meanings, and experiences to assume the role of an AGPCNP in a variety of clinical settings. The program consists of didactic and clinical course content essential to provide care to young adults, adults, and older adults.
Preparation of the graduate includes specialized education in the adult geriatric population. The AGPCNP focus is to provide patient-centered, evidence-based practice to improve quality care and health outcomes. The program can be completed in two years full-time with summer courses.
Cohorts are established annually in the Fall. All courses are offered on the ICPH Fairfax site or in a hybrid format. Clinical placement is a collaborative process between the student and the faculty. Clinical experiences are scheduled at the convenience of the facility hosting the student. Upon successful completion of the program, the graduate is eligible to take the AGPCNP national certification exam given by either the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) or the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners (AANP).
