Introducing Eric Byrd
Shenandoah Conservatory jazz faculty pianist/vocalist Eric Byrd and drummer Alphonso Young join the Studio Big Band for a special evening of jazz standards. Performance highlights include music by Count Basie, Quincy Jones, Neal Hefti and Duke Ellington, as well as originals by guest artist and newest jazz faculty member composer, pianist and vocalist Eric Byrd.
The two have been members of the award-winning Eric Byrd Trio for more than twenty years, where they have delighted audiences across the globe at the historic Montreux Jazz Festival, as well as in Bolivia, Chile, Colombia, Dubai, Estonia, Honduras, Italy, Peru, Scotland and Trinidad and Tobago. They have toured extensively throughout South America, Central America, the Caribbean, Eastern and Western Europe and the Middle East as part of the renowned U.S. State Department/Kennedy Center Jazz Ambassadors program.
